Janitor- On Call

JOB SUMMARY

The On-Call Janitor position works to maintain a safe, clean, living environment in the buildings. To do this, the Janitor is responsible for all major janitorial duties such as cleaning common baths, showers, toilets, maintaining clean hallways, stairs, common areas, including vacuuming and shampooing carpets. The Janitor prepares vacant units for incoming tenants. The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the lobby, cleaning and waxing floors, cleaning windows, taking out the trash, and changing out light bulbs in common areas. The Janitor may also assist the Building Manager with special cleaning tasks.

This position cleans common baths, showers, toilets and kitchens, and may be required to clean body fluids. The On-Call Janitor position works with staff and tenants to prepare and treat units for bed bugs.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

(Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience)

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

  • Required Experience: Two years      janitorial and multifamily cleaning experience.
  • Other Qualifications:  Knowledge of proper use of cleaning      agents.  Must have personal skills      to communicate appropriately with tenants.       Ability to understand English. Should be familiar with or able to      learn how to use email.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience      working with diverse, low-income or special needs population. Knowledge of      Hazmat procedures.

HOURS:  On-Call – can vary from 0-40 hours per week, day shift

COMPENSATION:    $10 per hour

Satisfactory work performance in an On-Call Janitor position can provide the experience necessary for application to a regular, full-time, benefited position at Plymouth Housing Group after six months of employment.
