Overview
What is Building Hope? Building hope is what Plymouth Housing
Group does every day, by moving homeless individuals into permanent
housing and stabilizing their lives by providing supportive
services. The 2004-2007 Building Hope Capital Campaign raised
$52 million to build hope and transform lives!
Over the past three years, Plymouth Housing Group renovated
three historic buildings and constructed one new building to
move more than 300 people off the streets into permanent, supportive
housing.

St.
Charles Apartments
Completed June 2004
At the corner of Third Ave & Cherry Street, this
building was renovated to create 65 units
of housing for formerly homeless individuals. The St.
Charles was once the hotel that served the Seattle Grand
Opera House and it has many beautiful fixtures that were
carefully restored.

Plymouth on
Stewart Apartments
Completed April 2006
Plymouth Housing Group purchased this 100-year old building
(formerly the St. Regis Hotel) at the corner of Second
Ave & Stewart Street. After years of disrepair, this
building had become a bit of an eyesore in our community.
A total renovation converted this hotel into 87
apartments for formerly homeless individuals
with very low incomes. Renovations also included a dramatic
facelift to the façade to restore the historic
character of its old structure. |

Haddon Hall Apartments
Completed October 2006
Plymouth Housing Group renovated this building to preserve
55 units of existing housing in Seattle
for people with extremely low incomes. Upgrades included
major systems overhauls and cosmetic renovations to address
the worn-out façade. |

Langdon
and Anne Simons Senior Apartments
Completed January 2008
Started in August 2006, a 5-story building was erected
at Third Ave & Blanchard Street to serve Seattle’s
homeless senior and military service veteran population.
In addition, Plymouth Housing Group’s administrative
offices occupy the first floor space. The Simons Apartments
created 95 much needed apartments for
our community’s low-income seniors and veterans
and is Plymouth Housing Group’s most recent addition
to the downtown community.
This building was named in recognition of Langdon and
Anne Simons for their longtime support of Plymouth Housing
Group. Lang has played a key role in our capital campaign,
and we are pleased to honor both he and Anne for their
many contributions to the greater Seattle community. |
To complete these projects, Plymouth Housing Group launched
the Building Hope Capital Campaign.
The potential benefits are simply too great to ignore; once
a person can leave the shelters for a supportive stable environment,
the cycle of homelessness is broken and a person can grow in
more healthy ways. This approach saves the community hundreds
of thousands of dollars in the long run by reducing the cost
of homelessness that is passed on to the health care centers
and emergency rooms, as well as the public safety and criminal
justice systems. By far, this commitment to build hope
in our community is one of the best ways to invest in our future.
