ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Plymouth Housing Group (PHG) is a non-profit organization with 125 employees and an annual budget of $11 million. Its mission is “to eliminate homelessness and stabilize homeless and very-low-income people in housing by preserving, developing, and operating safe, decent, affordable housing, and by providing opportunities for homeless and very-low-income people to improve their lives.” PHG owns and manages 11 buildings in downtown Seattle that provide 800 units of low income housing, including 700 units of permanent supportive housing for individuals coming from homelessness.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Human Resources provides leadership in cultivating an agency culture based upon respect, trust, excellence and accountability, and plays a key role in PHG’s efforts to nurture a diverse work force. The Director plans, implements, and evaluates the company’s human resources function and ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. S/he communicates Human Resource policies and programs to all PHG employees, oversees benefits administration, ensures a smooth interface with PHG payroll processing, and oversees training of PHG supervisors in employee relations, performance management, and employment law. The Director supervises one full-time Human Resources Assistant and reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer. This position serves as a member of the Leadership Team.
REQUIREMENTS: (experience, training, skills or education)
- Degree in business, human resources or related field; Minimum of eight years experience as a human resources generalist, including at least three years of upper management level human resource experience in a mid-size organization. Non-profit experience a strong plus.
- Proven success in a human resource leadership position, with sound technical skills, excellent communication skills, analytical ability, attention to detail, and good judgment.
- An energetic, forward-thinking and creative team player with high ethical standards and commitment to nurturing a diverse work force.
- Management skills that demonstrate inclusiveness, decisiveness, good facilitation, a process improvement orientation, approachability and a willingness to give feedback.
- In-depth knowledge in employment law; thorough familiarity with benefits administration; experience managing HRIS; proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with ABRA software applications desirable.
