At Plymouth, we believe in the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of everyone in our community: residents, staff, and Board. Marilyn Mitchell, Plymouth’s Manager of Clinical Development, describes her experience: “I have worked at Plymouth for several years now and since my first day here have felt supported by the organization as the person that I am. Plymouth is an inclusive community that encourages each individual to embrace their own individuality, strengths, and commitment to our mission. It is through the diversity of our staff that we can more effectively support each other and the residents we are providing homes for.”

In addition, earlier this month, our Executive Director Paul Lambros was honored by the Puget Sound Business Journal and the Greater Seattle Business Association as one of the Outstanding Voices of 2018. In his interview with the Puget Sound Business Journal, Paul described by it’s important for him to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community:

“On a very personal level: I’m a single gay parent. My son and daughter are ages 20 and 16, respectively. Since the years they first entered school, I’ve been very conscious about being open and connecting with others from the school community so that my children would have an easier time of it. It’s also a way I can support them in loving and being open about who they are as individuals.

In addition, I worked with the Northwest AIDS Foundation in the early 90’s after the AIDS crisis affected my immediate family. While I was there, I saw firsthand this disease’s effect on community. My job at the Foundation was to locate housing for people with AIDS, which eventually brought me to Plymouth. Although I bore witness to a lot of hardship, I also saw how much change can happen when passionate people work together—which is why I continue to be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community and of ending homelessness.”

For this reason, and so much more, we’re proud to march in the Seattle Pride Parade on Sunday, June 24, for the second year in a row! Will you be cheering us on from along the parade route? We hope to see you there!
